Heather Alderete, 28, of the Hill Country Stars, has been an athlete for 10 years and has worked for Home Depot for seven years. In her spare time, she likes to fish and do jigsaw puzzles.

Alderete brought home three powerlifting medals from the USA Games in New Jersey in 2014. She says that support from her family, friends and co-workers has been important to her success as a Special Olympics Texas athlete.

Her advice to fellow SOTX athletes: “Train hard and work as a team.”
