John Ruhly began volunteering with Special Olympics Texas in the late 1980's.  The place where he worked, EDS, was notified by SOTX's Greater Dallas office that volunteers were needed. One afternoon he went to a competition and really felt a connection with the athletes. John has been working with and driving Phillip Armstrong around to different events for years.  Despite some wonderful athletes' mothers taking over the coaching of the bowling team around 2010, he still wanted to be involved with the Carrollton/Farmers Branch Cyclones' team and people, so he asked Phillip if he wanted to form a Unified team.  Now, after every State Game, Phillip has asked John to partner with him the next year.
