Everywhere you looked this weekend during the Winter Games, there were volunteers: Key volunteers, who help run the events; Day of Event volunteers, who help with basic tasks; and Class A volunteers, who include coaches, heads of delegations and chaperones.

In fact, there were so many volunteers, one thing became clear: Without our volunteers, there would be no Special Olympics Texas events.

Our volunteers do it all: cheering on the athletes, working as lines people at volleyball, helping keep the bowlers organized, spotting for the powerlifters, keeping tabs on the athletes as they travel. They give up their free time and even get their families and sometimes their coworkers involved.

Our volunteers make Special Olympics Texas athletes a priority, and the athletes' lives are better because of it.

On behalf of our athletes, let us say: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
