Heart of Texas Area athlete Ray Bottoms is a member of the Belton Blazers and competes in several sports every year. But he also has been busy as a maintenance worker for the City of Belton for the past 21 years. Recently, Ray was honored at a retirement party for his years of service being recognized by the former and current mayors of Belton. The party was held at First Baptist Church of Belton where Ray is a member and volunteer for many of the church’s activities. His pastor describes him as “very friendly with lots of spirit, you fall in love with him when you first meet him.” Ray has gained recognition all over town and has even earned the nickname “Mr. Belton.” Even though Ray won’t be working his day job anymore, he still will continue volunteering at church, attending community events – especially University of Mary Hardin Baylor football games, and upcoming SOTX sports competitions. Congratulations Ray!
