Robin Reeves, who is a member of SOTX’s Family Support Network and serves as the Area 14 Family committee chair, was selected as the winner of last week’s Best Shot photo contest for the image (pictured above) submitted for “Best Unified” photo.

Her son Tagen has been involved with Special Olympics Texas since 1999 and is very committed to the program in through various capacities on and off the field. Tagen is a Global Messenger and assists his mother and grandmother with the State Family Support Network.

Very recently, him and his father Bobby became SOTX golf teammates, thanks to SOTX’s Unified Sports program.

Unified Sports offers athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to play on the same team, which ultimately helps to promote inclusion. This program allows athletes to learn new sports and develop their skills. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and experience positive social interaction between teammates.

“They enjoy playing golf together and hope to branch out to other activities,” Robin said.

Bobby is the head softball coach at Abilene Christian, so Tagen is around college athletes every day and aspires to be like them.

Tagen desires to participate in any sport that is available and currently competes in all three Chapter games.
