Marcus Ruiz: Area 18 Athlete Spotlight

Marcus Ruiz

 

Marcus Ruiz is an Area 18 Athlete in Odessa, Texas. Marcus began his Special Olympics career in 2011. He competes with the Ector County Independent School District in softball, bowling, basketball, and track.  His favorite sport to participate in however is Soccer. He has competed in the area and state level competitions, winning multiple medals including a silver at state bowling and gold at state soccer.  Special Olympics has made Marcus believe in himself and has given him the confidence that he can accomplish anything that he sets out to do. Marcus' best memory of Special Olympics is playing with his teammates at the Special Olympics Texas state summer games in soccer. Marcus will graduate from Permian High School in 2020 and will set out on his life outside of high school.
